The highlight tracks the spoken word on the original page, so you can read with your eyes and ears together — or glance away and find your place again instantly.
Running headers, footers and page numbers are left out, so the reader never interrupts a sentence to say a page number. Equations, tables and charts are announced rather than read out as a stream of symbols.

Reading and word alignment happen on your device, and opening a document needs no network at all — the voice ships inside the app. Your documents are never sent to us: there is no Chimereader account, and no server of ours for them to go to.
iCloud sync is optional and off until you switch it on. When you do, the books you choose are stored in your own iCloud account under your Apple ID — that is between you and Apple. We receive nothing either way.
Requirements. A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 15 or later, or an iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or later. One subscription covers Mac, iPad and iPhone.
