Chimereader is rated 16+ for one reason: it can open any web page. Nothing else about the app contributed to the rating.
Chimereader includes a web reader, so you can paste a link to an article and have it read aloud. Because you can give it any address, the App Store classifies that as unrestricted web access, and any app with that capability is rated 16+ — the same rating every web browser carries.
On devices running an operating system older than version 26, the App Store shows this as 17+, which is the equivalent on the previous scale.
Every other question in the App Store's age-rating questionnaire is answered None. Chimereader contains no violence, no profanity or crude humour, no sexual content, no horror themes, no references to alcohol, tobacco or drugs, no gambling or simulated gambling, and no contests.
It shows no advertising of any kind. It has no chat, no messaging, no social feed, and no user-generated content — nothing you do in the app is shared with or visible to anyone else.
The app supplies no reading material of its own. Everything it reads is a document you already have or a link you chose.
If a managed device restricts apps below 16+, Chimereader will not appear in the App Store on that device. That is the rating doing its job, and it is worth knowing the reason is the web reader rather than anything in the app's content.
Chimereader collects no data from anyone, of any age. See the privacy policy for what that means in detail.
